Objective

It is my intent to showcase my management skills, exceptional customer service skills, and ability to multi-task under tight time lines and with limited supervision in a supervisory position at the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce Visitor Information Centre.  I have learned to inspire team work and co-operation by providing my team with the proper skills and knowledge to perform optimally at their jobs.  I enjoy being involved in community events, and look forward to using the skills I have acquired in marketing, managing, communications and net-working to strive for long-term growth of our community's Visitor Centre.


Work Experience

Guest Services / Promotions Manager  (02/20/2008 – Present)

I currently manage the Guest Services / Promotions department and my duties include; managing, internal and external communications, organizing events and promotions, providing exceptional customer service and overseeing the customer service department.

Responsibilities: Manage a department of 8-10 team members including scheduling and all administrative paper work pertaining to them including payroll, work history cards, etc. Communicate to all departments, 150 employees in total are aware of promotions by way of communications at daily meetings, memos, posters, staff incentives, and discussions. Liason between my office and our governing body, BCLC to ensure that Guest Services / Promotions are adhering to policies set forth by BCLC Liason between my office and Lake City Casinos Corporate head office in Kelowna, and Gateway Casinos in the lower mainland to ensure adequate tracking of pertinent information; coupons, gift offers, etc. Monthly reporting to General Manager, and Director of Marketing Creating new and exciting promotions Liason between my office and the community via sponsorships and events. Training new staff, hosting events at the Lake City Casinos luxury suite at the SOEC, and recognizing / rewarding frequent and/or VIP players are also my responsibility.

Cashier, Server, Food and Beverage Supervisor (07/05/2005 – 02/20/2008)

I was originally hired as a cashier at the casino in July of 2005, I became a server in November of 2005, and a supervisor in April 2006.

Responsibilities: As a cashier, I was responsible for balancing a very large float, and working with exchanging currencies when necessary. I used my server history and excellent customer service skills as a server. I learned a great deal about managing a team of up to 20 as a beverage supervisor.

Certified Yoga Instructor (01/10/1999 – 01/10/2009)

Specializing in Yoga for Pregnancy and Post-Natal yoga, I designed classes and taught up to 15 students per class, 3-5 classes per week.

Responsibilities: Instructed classes of up to 15 through relaxation, yoga postures, meditation, while offering modifications for specific ailments as necessary. Kept detailed recording of client files Marketed in a variety of ways to improve class size.

Accomplishments: I helped people feel good, and I was associated with over 100 babies being born in this community through my work with pregnant women.

Interests

I love to be involved in community endeavors and seek out volunteer opportunities especially if it can bring groups of people to our community.  I am a naturally out-going person who loves the Okanagan,  participating in outdoor adventures and business networking.  As the mother of four daughters, I care about the health and prosperity of our community through recreation, education and commerce.
