Objective

I am striving for a career in health care.  Behavioral and mental health is a passion and strength of mine.  I am a compassionate yet realistic person with realistic goals for people.  Strong motivational skills along with strict goal-setting principles have gotten me to where I am today.  I am self-motivated and have an innate drive to better the lives of people both close to me and from afar.

Related: My experiences as a behavioral health NCO are as follows: Initial Intake Interviews, Initial Assessments, Program Planning for clients, Individual Counseling geared towards clients/soldiers needs and wants including personality disorders, drug and alcohol dependency, marital/home-front issues, suicidal and homicidal ideations, Charting, and end of treatment program assessments. Other: Conducting classes on the following: Anxiety Disorders, Coping Skills, Goal-Setting, Conflict Resolution, PTSD, Relaxation Techniques, Anger Management, Stress Management, Suicide Prevention, Depression, and Homefront Issues.

Responsibilities: Primary: As an NCO I am in charge of soldiers in my platoon. I manage them and set goals for them to achieve during battle assembly and at home. Secondary: I train soldiers on behavioral health techniques and classes that they will teach. Other: I am the Physical Security NCO for our unit, in meaning, I maintain the proper documents and memos that are needed to ensure our unit's safety in times of need and that we have the proper key control and security of our sensitive items.

Accomplishments: Promoted above others, implemented a Marriage Counseling class while overseas for soldiers struggling with being away from significant others. Multiple awards concerning my abilities as a leader and as a behavioral health NCO. Experience in public speaking and group therapy sessions.

Personal Care Assistant (08/29/2008 – Present)

Implement Personal Care Programs written by client's case manager. Assist with activities of daily living, accompany client to medical appointments, light housekeeping duties, and social interaction with the client.

Accomplishments: I have worked with RSI for two years, I started as a Direct Support Professional in Virginia, MN. Upon moving to Duluth I was able to stay with RSI and be hired on by the In-Home team. The In-Home team is an independent work environment.

Details: With a BA in Psychology I have studied broad spectrums of psychology and the different disciplines it involves. With a minor in political science I have studied our government, political thoughts/actions, as well as how to read things critically and evaluate them appropriately.

Skills

Leadership Skills are a must in the Army and by my promotions and trust they have placed on me I feel I am a team player and willing to work with everyone I encounter. I am able to adequately accomplish multiple tasks given to me at any time.

Computer Skills: I type over 40 words per minute. I am computer literate and have worked with Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, and am familiar with other forms of Microsoft Office.

Additional Information

I was trained in the Army as a Behavioral Health Technician in Fort Sam Houston, TX, at the Academy of Health Sciences.

Honors: From St. Scholastica I received the CIRCLE award and a St. Scholastica Grant.

Interests

My interests include basketball, volleyball, and swimming.  My future goal is to volunteer as a volleyball coach after I am done with this semester.  I am invested in my unit and in my soldiers, my goal is to obtain the next rank up and further assist soldiers in their training and development.  My husband and I love to entertain our friends and plan activities with them.  I also enjoy cross-country skiing during the winter months. I have been involved with Relay-For-Life, volunteered as a mentor for first grade students, and coached fifth grade basketball in the past.
