Responsibilities: Directly responsible for the proper operation of the Wastewater Treatment Facility and the Regional Wastewater Collection system infrastructure including: 1. Maintaining a properly functioning biological nutrient removal process (BNR) to eliminate any and all health risks to the public. 2. Oversee all mechanical operations of the treatment facility and off site wastewater collection systems, including 900 kilometers of pipe and 33 stand alone pump stations and associated works. 3. Responsible for the daily direction of 9 staff members, including electricians, lab staff, collection system operators, plant operators and mill wrights. 4. Coordinate and manage the operations including overseeing contractor's schedules and authorizing payment. 5. Prepare preventative maintenance plans for staff to follow and ensure all tasks are met on schedule and budget. 6. Prepare and Chair all monthly plant meetings, providing communications between all aspects of the utilities. 7. Prepare annual reports for Ministry of Environment. 8. Forecast, prepare and advise on Operational and Capital budgets included in the 5 year Financial Plan. 9. Present information to the Regional Board as required. 10. Liaise with the stakeholders serviced by the Wastewater Treatment Plant, District of Peachland, District of West Kelowna and Westbank First Nations. 11. Ensure that all effluent parameters are maintained as mandated in the Operating Permit issued by the Ministry of Environment.
