Objective
I am a second year veterinary student at St. George's University. I aim to reinforce what I have learned in the classroom by gaining more experience in a clinical setting.
Work Experience
Summer Intern/Veterinarian Assistant (05/23/2005 – 08/31/2007)
I worked at a private mixed animal clinic for three summers. (about 45 hours per week.)

Responsibilities: Assisted with small and large animal physical exams, vaccinations, blood draws, radiographs, preparation and observation of surgery, farm calls and emergencies, and provided general patient care.
Summer Intern (05/24/2010 – 07/02/2010)
I worked for about 5 weeks at a small animal emergency clinic as an intern. (between 20-30 hours per week)

Responsibilities: Responsible for initial processing of patients including, communicating our plan of action with the owners, entering patient/owner information into AviMark, and getting vital signs of the patient. Assisted with catheter placement, blood draw, processing lab work, radiographs. I also prepared patients for surgery, and learned to monitor their vital signs during surgery.
Accomplishments: I became proficient with their lab equipment and learned to place catheters, draw blood, and how to communicate better with the owners.

Study Abroad: St. George's University - SVM, is located in the South Caribbean in the country of Grenada
Interests
Small animal surgery and emergency medicine; I am also interested in equine medicine. I enjoy football, baseball, hunting and fishing. I was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Louisiana Tech University, and served as an officer on the executive board for one year, and was also the recruitment chairman for one year. I have excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
