Objective
Layout design is something that I am very skilled in. During my junior year of high school, I held the position of Assistant Editor of Cape Henlopen High School's Student Newspaper, The Viking Ventures. During my senior year, I was the Editor-In-Chief of The Viking Ventures. During this time, I learned how to use Adobe InDesign very proficiently. During my senior year, I also took a Desktop Publishing class at Delaware Technical and Community College in my free time, where I learned how to better use InDesign. Writing and editing are two things that I consider myself to be good at and I have a passion for them. Photography is another one of my strong points and I love to incorporate photos I take into designs that I create.

Accomplishments: At Abercrombie
Editor-In-Chief (09/07/2010 – Present)
I joined my high school's journalism program during my sophomore year and was elected Assistant Editor during my junior year and I was finally chosen to be Editor-In-Chief of the Viking Ventures newspaper during my senior year. Also during my senior year, I joined my school's yearbook staff, where I learned how to use a different program (Jostens) to design layouts.
Last Employer: Viking Ventures
Contact Person: (302) 258-6706
Responsibilities: Being Editor-In-Chief, I had a lot of responsibilities. At the beginning of the school year, a lot of staff members had no experience using Adobe InDesign, so I ended up having to do a lot of work for them. I did a couple of issues almost entirely on my own with minimal errors. Deadlines are a huge responsibility and I always did my best to meet them. I worked on the paper at home on my free time and I stayed after school often to complete the paper and submit it to the printer.
Accomplishments: I produced one issue per month during the year that I was Editor-In-Chief and I learned how to use Adobe InDesign with little help. I helped other staff members learn to use Adobe InDesign as well and helped make them better writers by editing their work.
Skills
I possess good time management and communication skills. I am very skilled in spelling and grammar and I love to edit other people's work. Photography is another talent that I excel in. I get many compliments on my photos, even some from semi-professional photographers.
Computer Skills: I am proficient in Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office. I am an excellent typer and I am good with computers.
Additional Information
I will be graduating from high school and receiving my diploma in June 2011 and I will be studying Communications at Delaware Technical and Community College's Owens campus in Georgetown, Delaware.
Conferences or Courses: Desktop Publishing: January 2011-present Main objectives: To learn how to use Adobe InDesign to create desktop published items such as brochures, business cards, fliers, etc. Obtained skills: Better understanding of layout design principles, more knowledge of how Adobe InDesign works
Interests
- I played clarinet in my middle and high school bands. I was involved in marching band and symphonic band.
- Video games are a huge part of my life. Ideally, I would love to work for a gaming magazine someday.
- Photography is something that I really enjoy and have a passion for. I've been told that I have "the eye" for photography. It just comes naturally to me. I have read many articles and watched many videos about photography and how digital SLR cameras work that helped me become a better and more skilled photographer.
