Objective
Dedicated and knowledegable RPSGT with a strong track record of educating patients and running clean NPSGs
Work Experience
RPSGT (07/02/2001 – 05/26/2010)
- Completed clean sleep studies, and scored them during acquisition. - Knowledgeable in pediatric sleep studies due to a specialized course taken with Midwest Sleep and Neurodiagnostic Inc. -Skilled in titrating PAP, and helping patients with PAP compliance. - My completed EMT training vastly helps when and if emergencies arrive throughout the entire testing process. - Proficient in which medications change brain waves, suppress and/or increase different stages of sleep. - Experienced with Co2, blood sugar, blood pressure and blood gas levels. - Very familiar with MWTs, MSLTs, Apnea Links, Actigraphs, and many different parasomnias. - I work very well with patients of all ages, communicate proficiently with them, as well as with other technologists and doctors.
Last Employer: Battle Creek Health System
Contact Person: Matt Lake/269-964-5348
Responsibilities: As one of the senior sleep technologists, it was my responsibility to help other technicians, and be a liaison between discrepancies on the tests to be run on each patient. It was also my responsibility to run clean polysomnograms free from artifacts, troubleshoot computer and hardware problems, and to titrate patients successfully with CPAP, BiPAP, VPAP, Oral Appliances and/or Oxygen.
Accomplishments: -At Battle Creek Health System, working as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, I helped the department by streamlining a policy and procedure for all technicians to follow for a full pretest 10/20 set up on each patient, so each test was as consistent as possible. -I also was in charge of inventory and mask supplies; organizing and making a detailed list of each mask- such as pictures, which company made each mask, acceptable leaks with each mask, and the basics of taking apart and reassembling each device. This saved time for all technicians. -I also devised a packet for each patient with information according to what tests would be done, and about sleep studies in general. If CPAP was needed, a sheet was given about DMEs, replacement schedules for masks, hoses, etc, and tips with compliance, and where the patient could call if help was needed. -I was often praised by the medical director in our accredited sleep lab for getting more in depth histories and test notes on each patient; such as if an RBD, seizure montage, or a transcutaneous Co2 was to be added. -I was also praised for the education I gave each patient. Each patient is unique, and I tailored to each patients needs individually. I was praised for making each patient more comfortable for their NPSG.

Skills
I believe each patient is unique, and should be treated as such. I am very professional with each patient, family member, or coworker I encounter. I am experienced with critical thinking, and thinking 'outside the box'. I am also personal, down to earth and can relate to each patient, educate them, and make them feel more at ease with their sleep study, regardless of the type of test they are having. With nine years of experience, I have acquired great bedside manner, along with running a clean study.
